The Northeast Georgia Food Allergy Support Group has been an important resource for our family. Our five year old son has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy and preparing for Kindergarten was eased with the advice, materials, and educational opportunities provided by the Northeast Georgia Food Allergy Support Group. They provide guidance and empower families, schools and communities to make informed decisions regarding our children with food allergies.- Jennifer Fontenot, Ellijay, Georgia

The Northeast Georgia Food Allergy Support Group has been an great example for our community. I am actively involved with my children with their after-school sports and distribute snacks & drinks to all children. This year, we had a child that had multiple food allergies that joined our football team. It was my passion to make sure I have him included in all activities that we do as a team. The Northeast Georgia Food Allergy Support Group has given me the knowledge and materials to make me confident that we do not leave a child behind because of their food allergies. I feel like they have made such an impact within our school systems and now the food allergy children are in a safe environment, all educators are fully trained and can recognize the signs of anaphylaxis if they were in a situation that arose.

As a mother to three daughters who have food allergies, I can a test to the fact it is hard. It is hard to take your children out to restaurants. It is hard to go to birthday parties, and to take your children to do all of the other things that “normal” children get to do. As a mother this will break your heart. For me, coming from a background of no food allergies I was literally walking into dangerously uncharted territory with the three things I hold to be most precious in my life, my children. Northeast Georgia Food Allergy Support Group has really helped me to navigate these unknown waters with my children. Jennifer Addington has been a true God send to me and my family. She has answered questions that I myself could not find the answers to. You walk into an allergist office, have your child tested, and then you are told the diagnosis. Your child has such and such allergy, avoid it, and here is your epinephrine pen prescription. That is all well and good, but what about the day to day? What about all of the little things that you need help with that you don’t even realize until you have left the allergist’ office? Jennifer and Northeast Georgia Food Allergy Support Group have really helped with all of the day to day, and the ifs that as a mother I have. They have truly held up the word Support in support group. -Amber, mother of daughters with peanuts, shellfish, pickles, Pringles, strawberries, and orange marmalade allergies.
