Our Story

Jennifer: I first found out about my daughter, Abigail's food allergies when she was 12 months old. With no family history of food allergies, I was caught by suprise the first time I fed Abigail scrambled eggs. Immediately, Abigail broke out in a rash and hives, started having difficulty breathing .swelling of the mouth and throat area, vomiting & diarrhea. As a new mother I had no idea what was going on, but that my "gut instinct" was to give Abigail Benadryl (please note that benadryl will NOT save your life during an Anaphylaxis reaction, only an Epi-Pen) and call 911. Later at the hospital I was informed that Abigail had a allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) and needed to be seen by a specialist to see if she had other food allergies. Soon we were seen and tested for further allergies and she tested positive to eggs, peanuts & treenuts. She is also allergic to one antibiotic medication.

Sandy:

This is how our journey started.

As Abigail got older and got into Pre-School & Elementary school I found it more difficult to keep Abigail safe during school hours. Not just her safety, but understanding on how important  food allergies are! I started to advocate for my child and in the process of it, I met Sandy. We both felt the need and had the passion to raise awareness and to advocate for our children to our school systems and our community. Together, we formed our support group and continue to advocate within our community. We hope to make a difference and help all children/families with food allergies!
